I picked up a bag of these for my puffer and eel. I haven't seen these before.

Can’t say I’ve ever seen them either!

Let’s us know how they work out please!

Looks like a good food, would your fuzzy and angler take them, are they a good size for them. Since they are whole it could be a good food for picky predators. I get my picky lions and scorps to take this krill I get from the asian market that they call tiny shrimp, it comes in whole and opaque colored not orange like at the lfs. Do you know the nutritional difference between krill and shrimp. I"ve seen lions not fair so well when being fed krill only so this could be a good addition.

My lion isn't big enough yet and my I wouldn't feel comfortable feeding this to my angler. He could probably choke it down but from what I know now it isn't good for them.

I'm not sure what these are. They look like huge krill, but I am sure they are something different. I don't know what the nutrition is, maybe I can contact Omega One.

The krill you buy at the store (orange stuff) isn't too nutritious. It is a good color enhancer but Bob Fenner says it is high in thiaminase. I have heard several reports of puffers that are fed only krill getting lock jaw.

The stuff I get at the asian market is human grade stuff , I've eaten it in some Thai dishes. I've seen lions stop eating after a year or so after being fed krill only, not sure if it's the krill only diet, but I've seen it enough times not to be a coincidence.

I know there is a difference in krill vs shrimp, if being high in thiaminase is the negative aspect of too much krill, I wonder if shrimp has less. Here's the stuff I get from the asian market, some of the larger ones are about 1.5",

Bob F says thiaminase causes a vitamin B deficiency.

He lists high and low thiaminase foods. The Asian market near me has all sorts of crazy stuff. It's the only place that I know of that sells cockles. Cockles are one of the only bivalves low in thiaminase. My puffer likes them (and hopefully my new Tusk does too).

I feed Larry's chunky food (so I get a good blend) along with shelled foods to wear down teeth. I also feed salmon. The lion and angler love salmon. The eel hid from it, lol.

Your video made me realize just how sadly thin most of the puffers I see at the LFS are. :(
I feel the same way. Andy actually looked a bit thin there. When he is done eating his belly looks straighter. I think they should look like little blimps.

That being said, the "eat for 5 minutes" doesn't apply to puffers. He could consume mass amounts of food in 5 minutes!! Watch some of my other videos on YouTube. He eats clams in seconds.
