I fear the inevitable "sneezing too hard near the tank could be cause for an anemone to do weird things," but here goes anyway...

Basic story:
Apex lost connection to Fusion and somehow stuck while dosing ALK which went from 8 to 12 overnight on 01/06.

The tank houses three anemones; two are well established, one for a couple of months.

Yesterday:
- Although still bubbly, one of the well established gorgeous pink anemones started bleaching
- The newest addition stayed retracted all day and then started moving at lights out. Its new location is under a ledge and it hasn't been fully-extended (it has been for the last month).

Today:
- The well established pink has further bleached (still bubbly) AND has moved for the first time ever.
- The newest addition is still retracted.

I understand parameter swings can cause various undetermined/understood reactions, I'm just curious if anyone else has had a similar situation and what (if anything) can be done (besides being patient and working to gradually return to normal parameters).

Well, it's been five days and no one has replied to your question. Far be it from me to say anything but, congratulations, it appears you may be the only person on the face of the earth to have created your conundrum!

In other news, I'm still awaiting arrival of that check for big money from you to drive over and finish the jobs you cannot seem to be bothered doing.

Seriously, though, I hope all is well and your pink anemone is on the road to recovery!

Funny, FUNNY guy... seems that you may be older than your s/n alludes as you've apparently (and conveniently) "forgotten" that "we" agreed to have none of this paying for help from a dear friend nonsense...

regarding the anemone... it's now in a big ol' hurry to become clear... it must be all the rage because now my gorgeous orange rainbow anemone has hopped on the proverbial wagon... <sigh>

We had a similar issue but with Alk and Calcium dosing wildly for two hours straight, unfortunately ours was human error. The tank turned into a cloudy mess but returned to normal in about 24 hours.

I understand yours was just Alk, but I would just take that doser offline or at least turned down until the levels return to normal. I have spiked my Alk more than once over the years, sometimes there are some losses, but panicking and try to help has caused more harm than good.

I unplugged the dang DOS immediately.
I have quickly learned to not over-react as that, typically, causes more trouble than the initial situation.

I've done two 50 gal water changes so far and the ALK is SLOWLY falling... pretty much at the same rate as the bleaching. haha (that's crying laughter)

It would be sad, indeed, if a funny guy was not funny. I may show signs of my age again with the following question; what is "s/n"?

Sorry to learn this and hope they both bounce back soon.

It's a real shame you clearly have not been able to implement this when dealing with PEOPLE!

Ahhhh... yeah, about the 1993... it's the year I first got my first access account for the internet.

As for being a geezer; I think I'm not too much older than you or, at least, I'm going off your profile pic!

My birthday is 08/26/1971
I expect a lavish gift, bestie.

It seems you already have my address

I knew it... 03/11/1968. You youngsters...

If by "lavish" you mean something inside a box that will be ticking then you are right on the money!

I'd hardly consider a metronome "lavish"

Oh, OH! A watch... I LOVE watches.
