Hello, i started the tank 2 weeks ago, i used 1 Kg of sand from a cycled tank, 5% of live rocks... and bought Aragonite sand to finish and get 1-inch sand bed. the tank is lido 120(30 gallons) i only want to grow soft coral in there, no skimmer just wavemaker(5000 lph/ 1320 gph).

The light is t5ho 2*24w (1* osram 965 + 1* fluval sea acnitic) + an old led bar (beamworks 1w led acnitic with 60° lenses/ total 18w) is that too much light for that tank ? the light is at least 24" from the sandbed.

Two days ago, i added jbl denitrol, 20ml/120l and maybe it was a mistake, one hours later the water was blurry, today is still blurry maybe even more. I don't know if it's algae or bacteria ? thx

Calcium : 400
Magnesium : 1200
Salinity : 1.025
Temp : 25°c / 77°f

I would cut your lights for a while. I had algae problems because I turned on my lights too quickly and didn't acclimate the tank to it. I didn't see anything about filtration. What are you running for that?

Thanks, so far no filtration at all, i was thinking about put an HOB filter with some moss in it ?

Bacteria bloom . Do you have any live stock in the tank??

The tank I took the stuff from had small rocks with soft coral and a snail, if i hadn't took they would've been thrown away. I have Kenya tree, lobophytum, mushroom coral, sinularia dura, green polyp. sinularia dura is kind of closed, green polyp is brown green under actinic. Kenya tree, lobophytum and mushroom are doing good. Snail is alive so far.

I have known this tank for about a year, it was a local aquarist club which is now down, the tank was really well established and good looking, no crazy pest, only asterina though. Unfortunately, I came too late for most of the live rocks...

I have 8 hours photoperiod, 6 hours full light, first and last hour is actinic only

You definitely need to have some sort of filtration on there to help with nutrient export
I added Tetra ex 1200 plus, i'll clean it once or twice a month

Low tech isn't the same thing as low maintenance. If you want minimal filtration, you're going to need to up your regular maintenance. At a minimum with your set-up I would do weekly or even bi weekly water changes depending on what stock you have in there. Obviously the heavier the stock, the more water changes you'll need to do.

You didn't post ammonia, Nitrate, phosphate, etc parameters. Do you have kits for these? These nutrients are going to be what causes algae/ bacteria blooms

Sorry, saliferts are coming soon in the mail, will update
By moss do you mean floss? Because I don't think anyone uses moss for filtration in saltwater tanks.
I run 30 ppi moss + white floss in the canister filter

Water is nearly crystal clear, diatoms seem to fade out, green algae kicks in, seems going in a good way ?

Some corals are red/brown still alive though, the sinularia sp something always been like that since he's been in the tank, which sp is it ? thx

The palythoa is weird but alive

I took that coral (sarcophytum or lobophytum ?) in a tank also in the cycle, he was starting to get white color in his original tank, he looks ok here ?

Have you been doing frequent water changes since the bloom?
No water change, no salt left, and coming in the mail too. In fresh water i did 50% water change per week, saltwater seems way more sensitive so 10% a week seems fair ?

I tested the calcium and magnesium, maybe I did it wrong back then, tested it three times, Calcium is 395 ppm, and magnesium is 1270 ppm using salifert. Calcium seems a bit low ? thx
