I was desining the sump for my 100 reef tank when it occurs to me what happens if I build a giant 20 gallon reactor (take into account that the display is 100 gallon) so the rector will be almost 20% of all tank volume.

The reactor it will be surrounded by close to 10 meters or 32 feet of led strip for plants, and the main display will drain into the lower part of the reactor, forcing water to through the chaeto into the skimmer, some marinepure bio-balls and then the return pump. The dosing pump, and reservoir will be next to the tank.

I was thinking of using only chaeto as nutrient export with some water changes. What do you all think? I have seen chaeto use countless of times, but I have not see many people dedicating so much space in the sump for it, so I decided to run it by reef2reef before I order the glass.

Thanks,

I'm intrigued. Never seen it done that way before, but I don't see why it wouldn't work. Most people have the skimmer before the macro, but I wouldn't think it would really be an issue.
