Hey there,
For about 4 months now, I've been working on my IM: Fusion 50 tank. Been going strong so far. But I have been planning my next project, and it involves a 90- 120 gallon tank with a nice macro-algae sump refugium. Going based off of a reverse schedule from the display (display lights turn off/sump turns on).
Anyways, I think this is the direction I want to gravitate towards. I've honestly gotten kinda of bored with freshwater and am considering just tearing it all down to make room for the reef scene.
But yeah, was wondering if anyone has done this before and was interested in knowing your kinda set up and if you have any tips and tricks for a project like this. I really like the idea of a macro-algae sump refugium and experimenting with the different paths I have to choose from.

That's a great game plan my friend.
Lets see some pics you have going now?
The trick is read a lot here and ask questions.
There are many setups like you dreaming about and most of them all looks amazing.
Just put some time in research and soon enough you'll be showing of pics in your build thread of your 120 with macro algae sump.

Here it is, just got a few corals in there now. Still adding onto the collection. Been doing pretty well with the sps so far.
Really poor quality of a picture. In person I promise it looks so much better. I'm using only one AI: Hydra 26 on this tank right now, so it's a bit bright in the middle and looks almost completely dark on the sides. :/

But really, what I wanna know is what's stocked in people's refugiums. Like what animals, what types of macro algae, etc.

My fuges contain Caulerpa and Chaetomorpha, copepods (which I stocked), amphipods (which I didn't), red "planaria" flatworms, rose-pink and pineapple sponges, feather-duster and bristle worms and Stomatella snails (as well as the occasional Aiptasia) - not one of which was placed in there on purpose. Whatever wants to grow in there ... and _can_ ... gets to.

They can be interesting places in their own right!

What species of copepods did you stock? How are they doing?

A bottle of your Tigriopus and a bag of ... the little round ones whose names are escaping me right now ... from my fave LFS. They've kind of vanished into the woodwork; I rarely see them, but my dragonets seem to be finding 'em! I also used to see munnid isopods a lot - but then my fallow period ended. (>__<)
