Big koji wada pink nepthea randomly died?

This is the absolute weirdest thing to me, and I’m super sad because I loved this coral and it grew from a tiny frag, was doing so well and thriving!

I did a water change and the top of it would have been exposed, so it shrunk up and sort of slumped over - which I’ve done many times and it hasn’t been an issue. This time though, the next day, it just completely and 100% detached at the base. Nothing left on the bottom. It looked awful but I stuck in it a cup with some rubble. 2 days later it had completely disintegrated. I have several other types of nepthea, sinularia, other softies, all doing great. Could it be that the bending during the water change killed it? Is there anything that would differentiate care for this coral over other leathers?

How long was it exposed...?
The koji wadas natural environment is in slanted rock and near overhangs while still getting lots of light but never exposed to low tide like some acroporas or other softies like leathers. I'm thinking the overexposure had alot to do with it
