Soon I'll be stuffing corals in my tank. I'm looking at putting a few in there that I want BIG. I'm not wanting all my corals that big just a couple. Most seem to get the mothers and dice them up.
Where do I go to get mothers or show size as they use to call them.

Some local fish stores will have them. Also look on f and cl for people selling frags. Means they may have collonis they can be convinced to sell. Look close for pests though.

Depends on the type of corals your referring to? Softies could be easier, LPS ands SPS If found would be very expensive.

I'd have to agree with @Flippers4pups. If you are really looking to buy existing colonies then you need to be prepared to open your wallet and pockets. I mean when I shop around I'm looking and willing to pay $10 to $15 bucks a frag with growth on the frag plug. Not something that was just cut and glued on less than two minutes ago. You are asking about a mother colony and, well, we are talking a lot more now because that is what they use to make said earlier pieces I buy. Those are not going to come cheap unless you know someone.

Really - that is the only way it would be affordable is if you know someone who is willing or redoing their rock work to clear space. Then you might be able to get away with something reasonable. Doesn't mean they are not out there but I don't see them coming in at a reasonable price. Soft corals are doable more than likely. LPS also but again you will be more for the multi head pieces and a lot more if they have some fancy name on them.

frag swaps sometimes will have larger colonys mainly of lps like hammers and frogspwan but you just gotta look around. Don't be afraid to ask if they are willing to sell larger pieces

Keep an eye out for someone getting out of the hobby and selling their tank.
