I have a 12g nano with LS, LR, a couple of clowns, CUC, LPS, and soft corals. I do WC every week but minimal. Have my parameters checked every week and every week they are perfect. Even the LFS said whatever I am doing, keep doing it. Everything is happy. Everyone says Nano's or small tanks are really hard to regulate however I guess I am one of the lucky (and happy) ones.
When it is time to transfer everything over to the 38, I am really nervous. I don't want to lose anything and am not 100% sure how to do this without causing too much stress. I am nervous that the 38 will have wacky parameters since my 12 is so good. Is this normal?! I would keep the little 12 but as usual, I'm running out of room in it too.

Honestly..if you can keep a 12 stable, you will be fine with a 38..just let it run a little bit before you transfer stuff over. I actually thought it was pretty easy to take care of my 20 and things went well..but once I went to a larger tank I listened to people on how much easier it is to maintain a larger tank and I got off my best practices which is what made me successful in the smaller tank.

Only think i didnt like about the smaller tank was there wasnt enough room for the other goodies and equiptment you normally store under the tank itself.

Good luck!!

Thank you, BF!! Also, a good reminder to stay on your game.

My 600 gallon system is much more stable than my 29 gallon biocube. But I still dont skimp on monitoring. Just because it's bigger and more stable doesnt mean you can ignore it. Once things start changing, it's a lot harder to change course.

'Bigger may not always be better?' Well, since you are on a mainly medium to big tank forum site, the vast majority here will likely say 'Bigger is better'.

Best of luck with the tank transfer.
