Well, that makes sense why my frag tank is a snail graveyard.... seriously, so many shells. There are 3 giant astreas that seem to have been around for forever, but every other snail or mollusk seems to have a bad day in the frag/coral QT. I was moving live rock into a new secondary tank that is attached to the main display when I saw him roaming around. Wish I'd just caught him then. Saw him move into a large piece of live rock (and almost snagged him by sucking him up with a turkey baster), so I moved that rock straight back to the frag tank (straight to it, acclimation for the couple little zoa and mushroom polyps on it was skipped). So at least now I know he is back in the frag tank and not near the DT.
I have only ever added one rock to the frag tank that wasn't dipped in Bayer and that was probably 8 or so months ago and this is the first time I've seen him. I skipped dipping on that rock cause there were so many little cool clams, etc in the rock with the zoas so it just got QTed for forever. I guess that's what he came in on.....
So, any tips on catching him? Anything you can use as a trap? Could I go to the store and buy a clam or something?
Thanks
