Billy Galaxy's 60 gallon mixed reef

My Lady and I are super excited to be upgrading from our Innovative Marine 30 gallon cube to their new SR-60 tank. The 30 will move into our basement where it will serve as a nice growout/backup tank. Our new 60 will be tricked out with a pair of Kessil A360W and a CPR aquafuge hanging off of the back to serve as some sort of algae filled biological filter. We are moving the Aquamaxx HOB skimmer to the basement with the 30 as it likes to dumo water all over the floor anytime sponges are changed or any other thing that makes it too excited. Not too into heavy skimming, so we will try out the Tunze 9004 in there for a while and see how that works out. Will try to keep this thread updated with our progress. Let us know what you think as we go along...

Exciting! I'm hoping to start a build on a similar-sized tank in a couple of months -- my first reef tank! -- so I'll be following this one closely!

Gradually getting filled up. Don't have a lot of time or space to mix-up the water, so we are having to do it in small 3-4 gallon batches. Taking forever...

Also ordered a little sampler of Marco Rocks shelf and single sided cuts. Seems like nice stuff.

Went with a mix of the CaribSea Indo-Pacific and Tahitian black sands and used a bit of our white sand from our existing 30 to seed it.

Got a big selection of rocks to works with: Marco prime cuts, baserock from Liveaquaria, Tonga shelf from BRS and maybe a couple of other things.

Using hydraulic cement and acrylic rods to keep them together. Want to do it right in case we put some rock movers in there.
Made this cool Cylon Basestar from the original Battlestar Galactica.

How much room do you have in the filter section, front to back?
