Bio balls while sump offline

I need to drain my sump and empty it for 24-48 hours to make some changes. I have bio balls in there set up as a trickle filter. Whats the best way of keeping them in good shape while the sump is offline? periodic waterings with the water from the sump?

Put them in a bucket of tank water and they should be fine.
