I use an avast reactor for mine. It works great, they've been tumbling nicely for over a month now. They are built like a tank and for the price you just can't beat it, plus they are a sponsor here and awesome to deal with.

Ok so I've looked at the 2 mentioned reactors on youtube. And the avast one seems to move the media better. Is that because of the design or the pump feeding the unit?

I thought about the smr1 but some people were having problems with the mr1 lid warping so I went with the avast. The build quality on it is top notch, don't have to worry anything warping on it, the thing is a beast. It makes my TLF reactor look like a cheap toy. I have mine avast running off of my return, I just adjusted the ball valve until I was happy with the tumble. It's been over a month now and still tumbling well, no clumping.

I'm running an Octopus reactor and love it. It tumbles the pellets very evenly. The cone design at the bottom reminds me of a Deltec. Also has a built in screen part that keeps the pellets in the reactor. Not some plastic needle point material that looks like they picked up at Michael's.

I'm running the SWC 80mm. Fantastic tumbler. I too was unhappy with the modified TLF.

Just ordered my octopus 110 can't wait to get it in the mail. What pump do you run with yours

It looks like you already ordered one, but I was having too much clumping in my TLF and was considering the Octopus reactor also. Then I thought I could just put a glass shaped bowl to act as the cone at the bottom and modify the downtube. Now I am getting great tumbling all around the TLF reactor.

I'm running some cheap pump I got from Marine Depot. Can't even remember the name. If you look at the design of all these pellet reactors most of them are the same. There's an input/output, a down tube, and a top & bottom plate with holes drilled in it. What sets the Octo and Deltec apart is the design of the bottom plate. And the Octo has a built in screen cup thingamajiger. What sets the other reactors apart from my experience(I've owned a TLF, Precision Marine, and a NextReef) is build quality, the size of the input/output and more robust acrylic? Just my 2cents but with the Octo at least they looked to better the overall design of the reactor.

That's AWESOME!!! Wish I was more of a DIY guy but I'm all thumbs. You MOD makes me think even more that the actual design of Super Reef Octopus was a good idea. Any pics? I'd like to play with my old TLF and see if I can do it too.

thats a great idea, can you post a pic or video of your modification? I needed a reactor anyways, gonna run my carbon in the tlf but if I would have known I could have done this I would have just got another tlf and saved $100

I converted a vertex zeovit reactor you can usually find them on the boards for around $50 bucks and comes with it own pump. Plus if it does clump up or starts channeling you just move the plunger
