I have a dual reactor from BRS and have been running GFO and carbon. I have been less than impressed with the GFO and am thinking about replacing it with biopellets. What are your thoughts?

My only issue really is that the output of the bio pellets should be fed into the skimmer. I can't say I like the idea of the pellets and either carbon/gfo being close to each other like that.

Also the pellets will need more flow to tumble that you probably wont want going through the carbon.

I have sponges holding the carbon in place so that it doesnt tumble or anything. I have an oversized skimmer so that isn't a concern I have. Has anyone ran these two in the same reactor? Is it best to run the carbon before or after the bio pellets?

I think you missed the point on the carbon needing a lower flow to be effective and the biopellets needing a higher flow to tumble them...Either way I wouldn't run carbon in front of the biopellets or skimmer.. the carbon IMO should be ran after the skimmer.. If your intent on running something in the other chamber before the biopellets I would run a mechanical filter( sponge) to keep all the little stuff out of the pellets.

Thanks for the help. I appreciate it.
