Bio pellets help

Ok so I have a 250 gallon fowler tank I've always had high nitrates tank has been up for 3 years. I started running with a bashsea bio pellet reactor in the middle of October I added 1 cup the first week another cup a week later the 2 more. I haven't seen any drops in nitrates. The tank has been cloudy for almost a month even with water changes. I'm using a Reef Octopus
Regal 200INT and BRS pellets. Anyone have any ideas?

Alkalinity 8.8
Phosphate .20
Nitrate 37.8

bio pellets have bacteria, if you are looking for something to remove nitrates more heavily, an algae reactor or refuguim can work.

I would continue adding more pellets. Doesnt look like alot of pellets in the reactor.

They should slowly tumble & yes the reactor does look kinda shy on pellets.

With more pellets will the water clear up? I believe there is 4 cups in the currently. Should I add one more cup or more? What about adding MB7? To me I haven't seen even a slight reduction in nitrates yet. I can video the flow later tonight.

You should be at 1000ml of pellets. My 300g Iam running 2000ml of pellets. It took more pellets for me than they suggested to lower my nitrates, they do work just be patient. The cloudy water will clear up over time.

MB7 might help speed things up but dont believe its necessary.

Ok thanks I'll start adding more slowly and I'll upload a video later to make sure the flow looks good I appreciate the help

That's right after I added another cup and a half equaling 1000ml

It takes time. I set one up on an 800 gallon system and it took a month for the nitrates to start tumbling downwards. Now the 800 gallon fish store system constantly has 0 nitrates. We did add some waste away to soak them in as Dr. Tim's had a video out in the past stating that you can seed it with waste away.

Great comments above. I agree, it take some time for the bio pellets to kick in. It took a month before I notice any drop in my system.

Make sure the pellets are tumbling, to slow in not good either.
