Biochurn 90 mod to have activated carbon

I have a 50 gallon cube and started running a reef octipus bio churn 90. It is pretty big for the amount of pellts i need. I was wondering if i modded the top 1/3 for carbon if the bacteria would clog it up and be a waste of time. Let me know your thought please.

I don't really know. Can you get them to tumble with a bag in there?

It is a bio churn reactor so the pellets spin like a cyclone around the reactor. I was thinking of putting it another plate with holes at the top to make a chamber for the activated carbon before it flows over the top out of the reactor.

If the pellets are still moving, the GAC elsewhere in that reactor is OK. Upstream would be best since the GAC may get rapid bacterial clogging of it if downstream.
