Just received my new biocube 16. It came with the. New protein skimmer. I also purchased the inTank media basket. Instructions say the new style skimmer will only fit in chamber #2. Kind of a bummer, but hey, it was free!
Anyone have a solution for this?
Also... If using the inTank basket with floss, chemipure elite, and a bio bag, do I even need to run the stock filter? Thinking of taking out that tray in the first chamber to get a little more room. Might try to fit the skimmer there.
Suggestions?

The first chamber is best for a skimmer because the water level doesn't fluctuate like in chamber #2.. I didn’t know coralife had a new skimmer for Biocubes, do you have a picture of it?

Seems to work. Super quiet. I have it skimming in my live rock bucket now to test.

It actually uses a pump instead of the airstone. Its a bit longer though and the divider halfway down chamber 1 is in the way. Think I can cut it out?
I don't see any reason to run a skimmer after the filters anyway...

Nice! Thanks for the link.. unfortunately if it doesn’t fit in chamber #1 it’s probably going to be about useless in the middle chamber, you would need to run way to much water in the rear chambers to even get it to work and you will have to much water fluctuation to ever get it dialed in properly.

Yellow line is normal water level in Middle chamber.. Blue line is probably where water level will need to be for skimmer to work in middle chamber.

Seen a video that someone took it out and it fits in the first chamber that piece you where talking about

Yeah, I took that piece out and got the skimmer in chamber 1. (It is a tight fit) Been running it that way since I put it all together and seems to work fine.

Use chemipure blue. Imo

Skimmers that small designed for small nano tanks are pretty much useless. They just dont work that well. Yeah they make foam and pull out a little bit of light colored skim but on a tank that small water changes more than take care of water quality. A 5g water change will remove more than the skimmer can and do it instantly. I would not worry about running Chemi Pure or other chemical filteration right now. You should load up the back with a good bio media and let the tank cycle and mature. Things like carbon and gfo may remove needed organics to help get the biodiversity going.

I wouldn't call that light color skim the new skimmer does a decent job
