My tank is still cycling but I used 20 pounds of Caribsea Life Rock, Caribsea Black Hawaii sand, and premixed saltwater. I know I said this in my intro but figured I would share in the correct spot.

The new frags are in the tank. Two cyphastrea, a purple urkle chalice (my favorite), and a stylo. They’re all opening up and look great. Thank you to A Reef Creation for amazing customer service, and packaging the corals are awesome!!

4 month update I changed a lot. Got rid of the sand bed when I had a cyano outbreak. It fixed my problem. Took out some rocks to get better water flow. Plus added clownfish, a cleaner shrimp, snails, a few beginner corals, and a rainbow BTA.

I got a new anemone from Aqua SD. My old anemone from my LFS never really attached or opened well and eventually died. My water levels were great so I’m pretty sure it was sick . It also killed my cleaner shrimp. But I didn’t want to give up so I got another anemone and it looks fantastic. It’s toxic green with orange tips. So beautiful and healthier than my last anemone.

The tank is a year and a half old. Both my clownfish jumped out of the tank, and I lost 2 anemones when I lost power. But now everything is doing well and I have a 6 line wrasse for flatworms. Along with a new goni some new mushrooms, and hermit crabs. Everything is looking good.

Tearing down my tank. I cannot get my algae under control even after 2 years. I have red slime algae back. At this point my tank is just an algae tank with some coral on the ground. I’ll sell my bounce mushrooms, button scoly, and Goniopora, and donate my six line wrasse. This hobby has been nothing but a nightmare and I’m glad to be walking away.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience with the hobby. I am also battling algae and can relate to the frustrations it comes with. Sounds like you are making the best decision for you. Don't be afraid to reach out for support if you find yourself itching to give it another go.
