Biocube 29, Tunze 9001 cup floats off when return pump off

Good day to all, So im sure that this is something that others have experienced and i was just curious what anyone had done to fix it.
Tanks is:
Coralife biocube 29
Tunze 9001
In tank basket

I have the water level up at the top shelf of the media basket which seems to work well but if i want to shut my return off for feeding the water level gets high enough that the cup just floats off. Has anyone just weighed it down? Its annoying because i have to pull the cup off when i shut the pump off to feed or keep my filtration running which i would rather not.

I need to check when i get home that the water level wont totally flood the skimmer cup when the return is off. If it goes higher than the neck in the skimmer than there would be no point in weighing it down....
