So I decided to take the plunge and dive head first in to the saltwater side of this great hobby.
I have kept freshwater fish for many years and like a lot of people was scared/nervous to start saltwater I mean it seemed so daunting mixing your own saltwater having rodi and all that fun stuff that comes with it . But after lots of research and watching different YouTube channels which by the way are far to addictive.
So the tank I have decided to start with is a biocube 29 knowing full well I was going to do some mods I picked 1 up used cheap and have decided I did not want to go rimless with young kids and water evap I wanted to keep the lid and had decided I wanted to go with the AI prime hd so what to do.
Well I came up with the idea to cut a whole in the lid for the prime to sit in keeping the best of both worlds that I want . (Pics below).
Then to tackle filtration and after doing some more research I have decided on intank media basket and aquamaxx 1.5 hob skimmer with a couple of mods will fit in the 2nd chamber with no problem and once I have removed the first chamber baffles to stop detritus build up I think we should be ready to go with the next steps and decision making .

It will be interesting to see if there are any heat issues, but it seems clever. Welcome to the forum!

Very nice Gary, and welcome to R2R as well!

Had picked up some caribsea life rock from my lfs and played with some aqua scraping ideas trying to decide before I add the substrate

I am in process of changing it was getting to hot so have removed the lid got a clearview lid on order and have light mounted I was hoping keeping the lid would work and keep evaluating down but was wrong lol

Nice one thing I did was make a refugium in the middle chamber with a thin multi colored led light taped on the back made all the difference in my tank!
no skimmer though just 2 gal water changes a week..
And I gutted my light and did Trulumen leds strips which are adjustable..
great lights..

InTank Media Basket in the 2nd chamber is great for a fuge
Top section- Filter Floss
2nd section- Carbon
3rd section- I run chaeto with a innovative marine ChaetoMax light attached to back glass
