Hello all. I'm looking to upgrade my lights to LEDs but I'm not a big diy type of person always manage to mess something up. Also me and electricity and soldering and wiring don't do so well together.
So can anyone help me out. A) I don't know where to look for them. B) I don't know what I'm exactly looking for in them. Anything you can provide is helpful.
This is so frustrating not understanding anything when It comes to upgrading these is really getting to me. Lol

Have you thought of removing the lid and getting a pendant type light?

This really opens up the options as far as lighting. I just don't like that the gobies and other slender bodied fish jump out! You need a fine nylon net or something to cover IMO.

Yep, you'd have to build a screen to cover it. You can get the clear netting from BRS.

Check out stevesleds.com

I've been running their biocube 29 retrofit with a custom combo of Royal blues, neutral whites, hyper violets, and cool blues for 8 months and loving it. Tank is all SPS and they grow well and look great

Yea I am not very good at wiring is it a simple wiring set up or will it take someone who knows what there doing

What setting as in drivers and the others did you pick?

For me it seems simple. Here is a link for the wiring of the leds pretty much straight forward http://www.menarilighting.com/rapidled/documentation/RapidLED_Solderless_Wiring_Diagram.pdf. Here is the link to the step by step instructions on removing your hood, gutting it, installing, and wiring your lights and drivers. I would read through it and see if this is something you feel comfortable doing if not this one might be best for you. Biocube 29 Gallon LED retrofit kit this one you can have them do the 99% complete set-up but costs an additional $75.00. In either case I definitely recommend getting the controller with the lights you will be much more happier. Good luck!

If you go with the rapid led I would get the storm controller with the lights and I think with those you need the meanwell ldd drivers. The people there can also help with any questions and have answered my questions quickly in the past.

I agree with the reef radiance lights but if your like me and want to keep the canopy on it without cutting it up to set a fixture to upgrade the lights then the retrofit kits are the way to go.
