Biocube 32 Filtration Media

Just got my 8 year old son a Biocube and I want to make sure what I’m running in the back chambers is right. I have:
1st shelf: filter floss
2nd shelf: Purigen
3rd Shelf: Chemi Pure Elite/ Carbon in a mesh bag
Bottom: Seachem Martrix and some rock ruble

Thoughts?

Am I overdoing the carbon since chemipure elite has carbon in it?

I would assume your tank is also mature and not brand new like mine?

That picture is at 10 months old but for the first few months I ran a skimmer then stopped after a dinos out break. Siphoned out most of the sand which got rid of it. Guess it’s better to be lucky than good
