Biocube 32 light upgrade

Hello everyone. I've been doing some research and looking to upgrade my light on my biocube 32g led. I see that Steve's led offers an upgrade for the hood. I would be willing to remove the hood if a different light would work better. I'm open to all suggestions. Thanks in advance

Big fan of the Steve's led with the Bluefish controller if you keep the hood. I'm growing SPS (including acro) and LPS with it and the app for the controller makes it easy to set up.

Do you have an issue what heat? My ambient temp is 74 and the tank is 80. I live in Las Vegas and it's going to get a lot hotter in the summer. Removing the hood was a thought so I could also lower the temp in the tank

I don't have an issue with heat but I did add a small fan that I blow across the top of the entire unit in the summer. It'll max out at around 80 summer and 78 is my winter temp. YMMV.

I had some heat issues with the stock compact bulbs in my 29g. I ended up removing the hood and I went with a Radion xr15 g4. Maybe overkill but I could grow anything I want now. Without the hood I also could fit a nice skimmer in chamber 2 (aquamaxx ws1)

I took the hood off of mine and ran it with a black box over it [Sbreeflights]

I was pretty happy with it and liked the hood-less setup much better [I had problems with overheating in Michigan in the fall]


A radion, AI prime HD or kessil A360 might also be good choices

What type of black box you used? I have a 32 gallon and getting hard time with the light!!

Love my Steve’s too. Same running temp around 80 degrees. Will grow it all.

I switched to the AI prime hd, good but now switching to the Hydra 26 for less shadows. Both are awesome.
