I have not had a reef tank in probably 6-8 years, don't really remember, but I picked up a used biocube 32 the other week I want to setup. I was hoping to get some advice, I see some things discussed on here, but not all that I have questions on.

1) It appears someone purchased 2 of the intank media baskets that go in section 2 of the back of the tank. A am curious what type of filter media you normally would put in these? Also does this media need a mesh bag to go into? How often would you change the media.

2) Would I still need to use the biocube carbon filters if I am using the intank media basket?

3) Would you normally add an additional powerhead to these tanks or just use the waterpump that comes with the tank for water movement?

4) I see lots of discussions on skimmers, what is recomended, I believe the TUNZE requires an ATO, which I don't plan on putting in the tank at the moment.

Any other thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.

I use filter floss in the top chamber, purigen in the middle, and carbon in the bottom. You can set it up how ever you want it really. You shouldn't need the stock carbon filter if you use carbon in one of the chambers.

I use filter pads on the top, then one of those big grey sponges, chemicals pure elite, and then a whole bunch of seachecm pond matrix at the bottom. I also added a small powerhead to add some more flow to the tank. I'd suggest doing so

My biocube is a high end biocube, I have a ecotech mp10 powerhead, a ecotech xr15 radion gen 4 and a 2016 apex with the dos pump and wxm. I also have the tunze 3155 ato and the biocube skimmer so very high and end I love it
