Hey All!

New reefer questions coming! :)

Last week I put together a tank that my friend parted with. Its a biocube 32. I just filled it with water/sand/rock. However chamber 2 is barely full of water. My skimmer isnt picking up enough water to bubble. I am nervous to fill more water into the chamber because I don't want an overflow in my room. I tried stopping the pump and moving water from main display into chamber 2. However, when I turned pump back on it all went back into main display. Not sure how this water displacement will work if I just dump water into the 2nd chamber. If anyone can confirm that it wont over flow my main display, that would be awesome lol.

Second question. I added only live sand into the tank. It has been about 5 or 6 days now and I am still getting ammonia levels of 0. Is that normal or should I see a small spike?

Thanks!
Ryan

Hey. I have a biocube 32 as well. You want those back chambers fairly full. Especially the third chamber. Can you take a pic of it?

I keep the back filled to just below the overfill hole that is between chambers 2 and 3. It won't flood anything. I haven't found it very effective to have a skimmer in chamber 2 though. The water level is variable and you'll have to fuss with it frequently. An auto top off may help with that, but I prefer to just keep the skimmer in chamber 1

Here is a pic of chamber 3. Chamber 2 is the same. I cant get a picture of the back as I have it close to my wall. My buddy gave me a hydor skimmer but its fighting me to get into chamber 1. I bought a smaller one but dont want to open it until I sell this hydor.

fill it up more. it wont over flow. It's designed to not overflow. I've never used a skimmer in mine it looks like you could definitely use some more water in there. Keep us updated.

The Hydor is going to fit, but you will need to remove the bottom lip of the bio cube frame in corner to do so.

hmm lol welp. now its filled with water not sure if I will be doing that hah. Thanks though!
I think he's talking about the lip in chamber 2 that holds the stock media rack. Yours may already be removed. If not, you can do it while filled by scoring with a knife and snapping off. InTank has videos that show it as you need to do it to use their media tower. It looks like you already have their media tower so it's probably already gone.
