So I’m new to saltwater tanks and I just purchased a Biocube 32. I’m wondering what filtration y’all would recommend. From what I understand the in tank media basket is the best option. What protein skimmer would you run with it and what should I run in the media basket?

In the media basket you’ll want some filter floss in the first stage to catch the big particulates. Then in the middle you can use a form of chemical filtration like carbon to keep your water clear and a little more healthy then in the last stage fill it with as much bio filtration as you can to grow beneficial bacteria to break down harmful levels of ammonia before they have a chance to rise. A good bio media is marine pure. The spheres will fit well. Protein skimmer hmm i never got around to setting one up in my bio cube. I have that space filled with more bio media but I only have two clowns and the rest is covered with corals

+1 for marine pure. If you get the balls, you might have to cut them in half to fit as many as possible. Or you can get the blocks and cut to fit the space you have.

I have had a Biocube 29G running for three years now and I use an inTank media basket with a filter sponge and a bag of Chemipure Blue along with a Tunze 9001 skimmer and have had good luck.

I had some GHA issues for awhile but now the tank is running free of algae and looking good. I do a 5G water change every one or two weeks.

Keep it simple and inTank has a lot of basic items that will work great in your Biocube.

I have been thinking of trying Marine Pure. Right now I have a bag of Seachem Matrix rocks in the bottom of my media basket.

Marine pure is top dog sechem was my first media too haha then i gave lava rock a try haha god i wish i found this website back then and not Just recently

All of these are great recommendations, but to answer your original question. I use the ReefGlass skimmer, which is air driven and it works using a remote location for the skimmate, which is great for me because there is no collection cup to clean, just a bottle to empty.

It also has a very small footprint and it is super easy to adjust.
