I manage about a softball size chunk every one or 2 weeks depending on my feeding.

Don't know what's going on I was even doing chaeto gro to help it out and over feeding my tank the second time around and it will turn like light brown and when I will more it will just break apart. Do you think the light was not on long enoughForgot to add the times I do see the cheato dying back it's either from low iron or low nutrient levels.
How can I tell if my nutrient are low or high is there a test for that might be a stupid question but need to know if i am doing something wrong. And a well for the lron. And thanks for helpForgot to add the times I do see the cheato dying back it's either from low iron or low nutrient levels.
I tested yesterday nitrates are 0 and phosphate where high at 0.25 that was when I noticed the chaeto dead, and no sign of any other algae in the tank any whereIt's possible specially at 2 hours. Do you know your Nitrate and phosphate levels? Also is anything (nuisance algaes) competing with it? What chamber is it in?
I have set up the same way you have in you pictureHow can I tell if my nutrient are low or high is there a test for that might be a stupid question but need to know if i am doing something wrong. And a well for the lron. And thanks for help
I use the API kit, do you use a skimmer for your biocube cause I stop running mines the second time I tried the chaeto to see if there was a difference but got the same resultsThat might your problem, zero nitrates double so if it is truly 0.00,what test kit are you using?
When nutrients are mentioned people are usually referring to Nitrate (NO3) and phosphate (po4) so you are good to go there.
I don't test for iron but I usually know I'm low if I have no3s and po4s and my cheato turns yellow on the surface, I'll dose a bit and the yellowing goes away in a couple days.
Ok thanks for the adviceAh OK yeah api isn't really accurate in the low ranges, your phosphates might read 0.25 but could be 0.00 or 0.50, it's got a pretty wide margin of error.
I do not run a skimmer
That is exactly what I am going to do more light moreNo problem let me know how it turns out. Don't be afraid to try a few things like placing the light closer or feeding more.
