Has anyone used the korallin biodenitrator? I purchased one a while back but never set it up. I'm in the process of setting up a new aquarium and I want to get it up and running, but I've heard mixed reviews. Is live feedback from anyone who has/is running one.

I don't think you will find many who use these. I have browsed the denitrator forums for a while. Biggest thing is patience for the bacteria to get going. I don't know how many nitrates your water has or how big your bioload is but it is important not to drain NO3 completely to 0 which these reactors can do if grossly oversized.

You could probably reduce your media to dial it in though.

Have fun with it :D

I've used them for over 10 years. I had one on my 120 and I've got one on my 400. I generally keep my tanks heavily stocked with fish and I feed WAY more than most people. I will always have one on my system.

You can browse through my thread and see pictures of it on my 400. I would suggest waiting on installing it for maybe 3 or 4 months after your system is up and running.

I'd say it's a bit undersized, tbh. I had purchased it for a 105g system, but will be putting it on a 300g system.

What is the benefit of waiting, out of curiosity?

This is, of course my own personal opinion. When you set up a new tank, I think it's a good idea to just let it run it's course for 60-90 days. No bio pellets, no bio-denitrator, no UV etc. Don't interfere with what the tank is trying to do and just let it run it's course. I think skimming and a refugium is about the only thing you should run when inside the 2-3 month mark. Again, this is my own opinion, so good luck in whatever decision you do!

The Secondary Filtration was only installed after cycle..in hopes of seeding said Parts/Reactors...
Then will get plumbing extended to more visually pleasing cabinet...
Easier to fine tune ratios and alter connecting plumbing itself...
I agree to some extent, I bio loaded my upgrade Original Plumbing when I upgraded LED out of Box...
Well before it did true cycle with Damsels..

Been running for sometime, just been busy at Hospital 24/7 and couldn't post build as developed..but documenting mods for Our Hobby..
