Biological control of Xenia?

Hello everyone, I’ve been pondering an “issue” I’m facing and curious if you all have any suggestions. Long story short, I have some nice old rock (6+yrs) with tons of goodies on it (couple different colors of sponges, different filter feeders, probably 4-5 different types of coralline, etc) but it also has some pulsing Xenia. It’s been fine for a few years as it was its own little island, fast forward to my upgrade and I used this rock to create a larger outcropping so the Xenia will (read has been) spread to the other portions of that rock outcropping. I really don’t want to get rid of the rock and I don’t mind the Xenia if it can be corralled so I got to thinking. Why not place something with a hearty sting between the Xenia and the rest of the rock. Ideally something encrusting rather that upward growing. I thought about something like Hydnophora but I’m sure there are some “tamer” options out there.

Any suggestions? Appreciate it!

I'd be curious to see what you come up with. Hydnaphora was going to be a suggestion I had.
