I'm cycling my first major tank upgrade - overstocked 65g T/W to a 150g T/W. I have roughly a bazillion ceramic balls. Would the overflow box/column in the corner be a good home for some of those?

Naturally they wouldn't be placed high enough to get pulled into the overflow(sidethought: Wonder if it would sound like one of those coin operated pool tables on a new game, but more disasterous). Probably cut some egg crate to make a screen as a guarantee.

If that idea wasn't ridiculous was considering the next level -- adding some mangroves for some bonus fun.

Noteworthy Mention: Duriso Standpipe Style Overflow; Tank is 30" H

Too risky? Opinions please!

I would think it would hold a lot of detritus and become a nutrient sink over time. I think it would be best to keep the overflow as clean and empty as possible. I put a power head in my overflow to keep anything from settling.
