Ok so Im upgrading my stand and sump. I currently only have 3 fish. I moved them to a 40 gallon breeder. I wanna recure my rock before I restart the tank but want to make sure the 40 gallon has bio-filtration. I stuck 3 pieces of my rock temporarily in the tank and am going to add the 1" marine pure plates. I wanna know how long I should leave the live rock in in order to give enough time for the bacteria to populate the marine pure plates so I can remove the rock? Any advice is appreciated.

Why do you want to recure your rock? Algae or pest issues? If its clean rock keep it alive in a container with saltwater and a power head. I would give the marine pure blocks a good month befor removing any of the live rock. Then remove a piece of rock every week or 2.

Both actually. The tank has been neglected for some time now. So i want a reset. Curing the rock is the best way for me to do that I feel
