So I was thinking and I don't think many of us take this into consideration on how biological media such as ceramics and seachem bio matrix and other medias in that category that use pores to house beneficial bacteria and how over time detritus and gunk can fill up those pores and therefore making them ineffective. Especially on systems such as all in ones where you may have low flow or no mechanical filtration before the biological. It's something to think about. I always make sure to change out half of my media every couple of months especially since I have an all in one and may not have the strongest intake flow.
