Biome cycling/copepods

So I’ve been watching the BRS videos on biome cycling. Now I’m curious, I see a bunch of people the culture copepods also. Once in your tank do you really need to both culturing them as they should repopulate? I’m assuming it would be for a quick boost in population for anything that wants to snack on them?

They continuously repopulate, once they are in your tank they are their forever.

People culture them various reasons, including quick population boost as you mention, but its not needed, its more like a sub hobby of the reef hobby.
