My kh was a 9, I know it was fine, but I was curious how high the required dose for my tank would increase it. Instead of increasing it, it actually dropped from 9 to 8. I thought it was supposed too increase it, am I wrong? By the way my calciun reads 520, and no material how many water changes I do it never drops. Can I put in a clam even though it's that high? Thanks for any help.

B-ionic is a good quality two part. It will boost alkalinity and calcium.

Did you add both parts? How much of each?

The calcium is currently fine. So is the alkalinity. :)

The calcium likely matches your salt mix.

I didn't add any of the calcium as it was already 520. I expected the Alk in increase not decrease. I added 15 ml to my 60 gallon tank

You added enough for a 0.5 dKH boost. Maybe it declined 1.5 dKH (or your test method has that amount of error), plus your 0.5 dKH gave a net 1 dKH drop. :)

Out of curiosity I tested a batch of fresh salt water and it also tested at 520. I think I could have a bad test kit. My last two boxes of salt have been Instant Ocean Reef Crystal

I use ESV for my dosing. I basically use almost equal amounts of dosing for both. I have to say that ESV keeps my levels on point pretty well. I think the key is equal dosing amounts. It works for me. May also depend on what salt you use for water changes.

It is a bit on the high side, but is no concern. Might be it is that high at 35 ppt, your salinity is higher than you think, or the kit is off. :)
