Looking to try using biopellets for the first time.
Current system is a 225g display with a few large tangs. I feed them pellets, mysis, seaweed and LRS. I'll admit I do feed a lot which I'm trying to cut down on. Tank is/will be mixed reef but mainly SPS.

I would love to upgrade to a 500 display in the next year.

With that in mind I wanna purchase a recirculating reactor. Im between one that's built for a 250+/- vs one that's 500+/- would I be causing more trouble getting the bigger one and running it on my 225g tank? I spoke with the company and they said I should be fine running the bigger one with the same amount of pellets that's suited for a 500g. I was questioning this recommendation. He did say that one reason to use all the pellets was because of the weight of the pellets against the recirculating pump. Or should I get the larger one and just use enough biopellets for my 225 and add more when and if I upgrade?

Just wondering what everyone is thinking about going big or going with the apporpriate size reactor and spending the money again later on for another large reactor at a later date.

Or should I just get a large non recirculating reactor?
Thanks

Get the larger one and run the amount of pellet for the 250. When I started running my bio pellets, started with a quarter dose and build up to now running 1/3 dose. The 1/3 dose is all I need to get my No3's in line

Thanks for the confirmation. Went ahead and ordered the big boy. Now should I use the biopellets the company gives me (they just say bulk biopellets) or pick up something different?

I'm in the same boat. I use 1/3 of the recommended amount an have for over two years. The manufacturers should change their recommendations....but they wouldn't move much product.
