Biopellets turning reddish orange?

My biopellets are getting some kind of bright orange/red growth on them. The only thing I can think of is that I have fed reef roids several times in the past, but not for a couple of weeks. Any ideas?

Although it's not super common, typically when bio pellets change colors it indicates that there is some form of bacteria growing on them. Which this indicates that you may not have enough flow going through the reactor to slough the mulm off the surface of the pellets. Do you also have the output of the bio pellet reactor really close or directly connected to the inlet of the skimmer? If you could, take a quick video of the reactor in action so we can see the flow.

+1 ... you need good flow to keep them tumbling and have the output going right into the skimmer.

My nitrates have remained low enough (around .25 - .75) that I have been dosing KNO3 to keep my level around 3-5, so I'd be surprised if the biopellets are not having a substantial effect. My flow rate through the reactor is currently 101 gph based on my apex flow sensor. The pellets have a good tumble to them.
I will try and get a video when I get home, but I don't think I have a lack of flow.
