Biota - lawnmower blenny feeding

I received my Biota order yesterday, very cool fish. I was not prepared for how small the lawnmower blenny is though. Luckily these fish went in to an observation tank before the DT. Anyone else get these and what are you feeding them?

I’ve tried LRS nano frenzy and marine cuisine cubes so far and haven’t seen them take a bite of anything.

I setup a BBS hatchery yesterday, Today I’m going to see what frozen foods I can get locally. I may order a grindal worm culture. But I don’t know if I’ll have time if they don’t start eating something soon.

While I can't account for the size difference, my fully grown one eats just about anything and everything. A preference seems to be frozen foods, and mine is too large to go for the live foods I offer, but most sinking pellets or frozen food that ends up on the bottom should do the trick, and large enough film algae or hair algae buildup will also likely be eaten - mine doesn't seem to go for macroalgaes as much, though.

Maybe try feeding with the flow off to try to encourage it to explore a bit and to make it easy to see if it's eating?

Which blenny did you actually get? Biota does not list lawnmower blennies. Maybe you mean Molly Miller? Picture would help.

Regardless the best thing I can recommend for you at the moment is to go back to the page on Biota's portal that you ordered it from and see what they list as feeding. Usually it will be DKI pellet and masstick for dry. Frozen will be spirulina brine, calanus, and mysis. When I order from Biota this is what I always do and have had great luck.

I also keep on hand TDO x-small, small, and LRS nano, reef, and PE calanus for frozen. I feed hourly dry (small portions) and one larger frozen at night.

I bought Masstick with the order and haven’t seen them eat from it yet. I’m gonna try to get some other foods today locally.

Thanks. I didn't see those. I thought maybe you had mixed it up accidentally with the Molly Miller. Thanks for coming back and answering.

I have not purchased one of those from them. I have a gold lined rabbit, pink squares, links goby, and a few others from them and used the food I noted above. If you haven't tried place the masstick on a small piece of rubble near a place it hangs out and see if that helps. Similar to Nori. The problem I found is that all of my fish pick at the Nori so it was too busy for the new, small, fish. Ended up putting several pieces in the display to include early morning before lights on to get them a chance.

Pellet I feed TDO x-mall, small, PE mysis, and a few hikari blends. See if the store near you has TDO as that is of high quality.

The only thing my lawnmower blenny will eat is pellets and whatever algae film he is picking off the rocks and glass.

My lawnmower blenny is t Biota, but he loves algae and will eat off a nori clip I have for my tangs! I feed emerald entree and mysis to the tank he is in regularly and add other stuff here and there. I would try frozen algae
