Biota Mandarins?

Yeah I am very happy with them. These are the first ones I have attempted and I wanted to make sure I had everything in place. Both live and frozen food to keep them fat and happy. They are such a cool fish. The way they swim just blows me away. I call them the hummingbirds of the sea. The way they just dart, stop on a dime. swim to the right an inch. stop and seem perfectly still even in the flow. They are amazing to watch. That Masstick food might work great. I am tempted to get some and try mixing the Ova with it so the eggs stick to the clamshell a little better.
I'm very happy with ours. I only bought one male to see how it would do. That was about 4 months ago. He is my favorite fish. So much personality. I too have referred to him as the hummingbird of my reef. He started out small but has been consistently growing.

I throw in a cube of calanus every night. He seems to enjoy hunting the pieces as they float around.

I'm ready to get him a girlfriend.

Does anyone who if a biota pair could do well in a 70 gallon with a sump and 10 gallon refugium?

I am no expert by any means but I dont see why not. I would spend the next few months adding pods to your fuge until you see the pods all over the glass in the dt and then go for it. My dt is so loaded with pods that I feel guilty every time I clean my glass wondering how many pods I am killing. I just dumped them all into the fuge so they have migrated to the dt.

My tank is currently like that, if I leave the glass uncleaned for a few days the glass is typically covered in pods.

For anyone who has a Mandarin pair, Is it normal for the male to pick on the female? He is growing a bit faster than the female and he nips at her fins. Her dorsal fin is kind of splitting from the top about half way down.

I have a pair in a 34g they seem to get along fine. I purchased the male first, a couple weeks later the female, she was very small. It took the female a couple of weeks to come out in the open. Occasionally I see them together. I purchase Ocean Magic phyto and pods from Algae Barn, the coral also seem to like the stuff. Question is if you dose Vibrant which will keep the tank clean but also dose phyto are the pods going to die as in above statement?
