Today I have 2 Biota YT's arriving and have a 10 gallon qt tank set up that does not have any medication present (as recommended by Biota) with a HOB power filter, air stone, heater, thermometer, and ammonia badge. Should I add bio-balls into the power filter from one of my tanks to seed the tank with bacteria to help with the ammonia or should i just concentrate on water changes based on the ammonia badge readings? The water is newly mixed saltwater that i mixed over the weekend. My concern is that if i add the bio-balls then I'm adding a non-sterile element to a sterile environment which could potentially add a disease. I will note however that the tank the media is coming from has been set up for over 2 years without disease that i have ever noticed.

If the tank is disease free it’s not a issue . That tank is already going and your purpose of quarantine is to keep anything the fish may have from going into your tank . Not the other way around as once you put the fish in your show tank I doubt your worried about the fish catching anything from your tank

My understanding is that the qt tank and the hospital tank are different things, so that works for me, the qt tank is always cycled and in case of any illness (luckily I haven't had any), I have options to handle some biological material replacement or I just do a fallow period.
