So, I went to CMAC (Columbia, SC) a few weekends ago and had the opportunity to purchase Aquarium Specialty's Biotek Tek 36 sump. This is a sump I had only seen in pictures, and pics do not do this thing justice. This thing is built like a tank!

In addition to the construction, the sump just looks dang good. The water level indicator is surprisingly very helpful. It's one of those features you don't consciously look for, but my god has it made keeping the exact water level easier after 2 weeks. If you're in the market for a new high end sump and geek out over equipment, make sure you check out the Biotek Tek series. I love this thing!

Looking to buy same sump..... I would really appreciate any updated review.... Thanks

Hi,

I still have the sump and don't really have too many updates - which may be a good thing?
I am running the sump externally, so I have loud splashing from the filter sock area. It might not be noticeable in a stand.
Construction is rock solid. Thick acrylic. It's on another level of durability, but also reflected in the price for thicker panels.
The Biotek white label wears out after awhile.
For the price, I wish the dosing holes had bulkheads and a bulkhead for the return would be cool.
The notches for wires don't hold too well. Wires just slide out. But useful if you want to put a cover over the sump. With only one adjustable baffle, surprisingly the no micro bubbles.
The water level markings are incredibly useful. (Should be standard on all sumps)
Overall It doesn't have a ton of features. You're paying for good quality material and craftsmanship.
price is the only jab. I
But if you've ever experienced a sump leak like I have, paranoia doesn't go away. the durability and feel gives me comort. Soooo it may be justified.

Ignore my messy wires lol

I was wondering your opinion on the Biotek sumps, are they worth the money, they currently are on sale at 25 percent off, I am trying to decide between a Geo's reef sump r46 , Bashea SS 48, and Biotek 44 Tek sump....
