Bird’s Nest dying rapidly

I have had the pink bird’s nest for a couple months. So far it has been growing and healthy.

Thursday I spent a lot of time with the tank and it was doing great. Looking at it today, I am expecting the worse. I am not sure if it is bleaching, necrosis, a type of white band disease, etc.

I am hoping to diagnose and save it.

I greatly appreciate all help and advice.

All parameters are in good ranges. Temp is a steady 78 F, salinity is 1.025, ph, 8.1-8.25 by time of day, nitrates/nitrites 0, etc.

All other coral and fish seem healthy and normal.

If your nitrates are 0 then your corals are slowly starving to death.

@Lavey29 is spot on. Dose some nitrates and get it up to around 15.

Funny story, I've kept about every species of Acropora and other SPS you can think of with great success, except for the birdsnest. Every birdsnest I ever get does really well at first and then just starts dieing.

Birdsnest are very sensitive to nitrates. Definitely get your nitrates to 5-10 and phosphates above 0.05. Nitrates going to zero was what started my war with dinoflagellates.
