Hi all
I purchased my first lot or SPS corals to try on the 17/4/19 I purchased.....

Stylophora (mint shimmer)

Seriatopora Hysterix (Pink)

The Stylophora has started to extend its polyps. But the birds nest refuses to open up. As it’s my QT tank, I’ve not got as good of a light (it’s a cheap LED light) in my main tank I’ve got Ecotech 15.
I’ve got high flow (or at least what I perceive as high flow)

I’m currently attempting to increase Mg slowly over the next few days as it’s low (1130) which in turn, is having an affect on Ca (380)- unstable. KH (8.1). I’m dosing with Redsea (to get levels up and stable)

Anyone know why and if I can change anything to help?
Thanks
Emma

There are polyps sticking out on the bird's nest (the one on the left). They might not be as long as the stylo's polyps, but there are polyps clearly visible.

Put it in your main tank or you will kill it. There is no need to quarantine a coral like that, especially if it’s stressed. That also looks like an exceptionally new system, be prepared to lose a few.

Birdsnest don't have very long poly on them. From the pic it looks like it's doing what it's supposed to do. QT is smart, new QT system is hard to get them to live. My QT system is 7 months old with a few cleaners and one 6 line wrasse in it and everything does good in it. A couple of months ago it did not do very well. Just keep an eye on them.
