I recently saw a bird wrasse at my lfs, and now I really want one. My first questions is: are either of my tanks large enough? I have a 65g marineland which measures 36x18x24, and a new low boy grow out tank which measures 36x24x10. The next question that I have is: how reef safe are they? I have heard that they can have issues with clams and other inverts. I have a clam in my 65g... Third question is tank mates... Are other wrasses okay with them? Are damsels and tangs okay as well? Do females grow smaller than males? And finally, can bird wrasses be kept as pairs if you purchase them at different times?

No, bird wrasses get fairly large, up to 10-12". Somewhere in the standard 125-180 gallon range would be best, I would guess.
