Hello reefers,

Yesterday I introduced a new SPS coral, UC Screaming Birdnest to my tank.

I placed him down on a sand at well lighted area.

As you can see on picture, today I saw him totally bended down and changed shape then day before. There is one small piece of him bellow, as you can see I marked on the photo.

I saw hermit crab close to him, is he to blame? How is possible for coral to change the shape that quickly?

Thank you!

In cases like this I find that hermit crabs are the simplest solution to an otherwise inexplicable situation.

Blame it on hermits lol

Is it possible coral is bending because of the flow?

The coral has a skeleton, it doesn't bend. Something broke it, the hermit is not strong enough to break it. What else is in your tank?

Only 2 hermit crabs, no fish.

I don't see how is possible for hermit to break it, right?

Well, how large are the hermit crabs?

As you might have noticed while placing it, a birdsnest coral has a hard skeleton. It can't bend and change shape the way some soft corals can, it can only be broken.

well, since there are no other possibilities, the only possibility that remains, however unlikely , must be the truth lol.

I never would have thought it, you got strong hermits.
