Had this coral for about a few months now and it all of a sudden doing this. I haven't changed any thing in my system and the only I can thing of is that I left my fan on over my sump and with the AC running in the house it caused the water to hit 72-73 at the nights and then move up to 78-80 during the days. Not sure if those temp swings can do this the fan is currently off for the past two days. The birdsnest was nice with really good polyp extension. Other corals are doing ok. The only thing I can think of is the temperature swings caused this. Please help me save this coral

Temp 78
Salinity 1.026-1.027
Alk 8-8.5
Ca 450
Mg 1400
Nitrates 0
Phosphates lower color on API test kit
Ammonia 0
I use Fritz RPM Salt mix weekly 5G water changes
I run GFO Reactor and skimmer
T5 lights

I recently had a birdsnest do the same thing. Hard for me to pinpoint what went wrong, I did move one of my powerheads prior to the problem. How old are the t5 bulbs, are any other corals showing negative signs?

Looks like it's in the bottom. Maybe not getting enough light? Just a thought, I'm a newbie, but happen to have a bird's nest that's doing really well in med-high light.

One thing could be lack of nutrients and coral is slowly starving. I would consider a better testkit for Phosphate, and which kit are you using for Nitrates?

Have you checked for any pests? Or perhaps contaminants got into the water?

The T5 bulbs were installed in May 2017, some other SPS are showing the same signs. I removed the fan and have gone back to my regular routine the birds nest were doing wonderful then all of sudden this happens not sure. Other SPS are looking good with no signs of stress.

For phosphates and nitrates I'm using API tests. I do dose once or twice a week Fuel and or Acropower. I feed fish hikari pellets and corals and fish mysis, reef frenzy

can a coral revive from RTN and STN? Or once it starts it's pretty much a done deal? Should I try some iodine dip or coral RX dip to kill the bacterial infection vibrio
