Hey everyone

Today i noticed my birds nest branch had one of the polyps missing. this happened once before but looked like it grew back. Not sure what course of action i should take here. Cut off branch or not?

parameters taken this morning:

alk - 3 meq/l - seachem test kit
ph - 8.1 taken before lights came on for the day - seachem
am - 0 - api

If anyone has experienced this before, or has any insight i would really appreciate it.

Thanks,
giancarlo

I had the same thing happen with only this type of birdsnest. I ended up cutting off the branch that had the issue. It never did it with a tubs blue birdnest or the regular tan/purple polyp birdsnest though.

Are you talking about the underside of the branch to the right?

I got a huge one of those, probably 6x6x4. It does that all the time. Plus its gotten so high that parts of it come out of the water at times. You can either cut that piece off or let it go and it should be fine. Fun fact, I got mine as a freebie a few years ago when I bought an acropora crab and they put this little tiny piece of this in the bag for the crab to hold on to. Glued it to a frag plug and now its a monster. Its the fastest growing coral in my tank.
