I’ve had this birds nest for a while now, but a couple days ago it started having polyp retraction. Then today it was dying off in some spots. I’m not sure what it is or why it’s happening as I haven’t done anything to the tank in about two weeks. Any help would be great.

Have you had an alk swing recently? Birdsnest for me is pretty sensitive to alk swings, but everything else it could care less about. How are other sps in the tank doing? Full list of parameters?

Alk spike would be my best guess followed sudden change in flow or salinity

Sorry for taking a while to answer I’ve been busy with work. I moved it down to the sand bed where there is high flow and less par since I had it pretty high in tank and it survived but not after losing most of its body. I also lost a dragons scale sps.
Water parameters
Nitrate 0
Po4 0
Salinity 1.026
Nitrite 0
Calcium 400
Ph 8.2
Those are all the test kits that I have I will have to invest in a alk tester. I never really worried about it swinging as I am very good at keeping up on water changes and it’s a 180 gallon system so crazy swings don’t happen to it much. I don’t know why my P04 and nitrates are so low either. I’m guessing I’m getting false reading since I’ve had a big hair algae bloom in the last month, and maybe it’s sucking it all up. My digitata are all doing fine and so are all my encrusting. I will definitely get an alk tester though

Hey, I'm sorry that I missed this. I don't know how it slipped through my alerts. How is the birdsnest nowadays?
