Hello!
I got an offer to buy a frag of the coral Bird nest for 10 USD. But since Im a beginner, I would really appreciate if you guys can give me some advices:)

I know its quite a difficult SPS coral.

I got:
30 gallon tank
t5 lightning, 3 fluorescent lamp (2 white/yellow 1 blue)
approx 20 ppm in nitrate, which I know is high, but my 2 euphyllias is growing really well.

Got one power head. Dont remember the specs but it is for bigger tank than my 30g. So the movement is quite good. It took some time to find good calm places for my Euphyllias

for $10? go for it! i killed a couple sps frags early on, but they were both really cheap so who cares. one was a purple birdsnest that i left down low on the sandbed for too long. may have died anyway, but i've been moving sps frags up high quickly and having more success, but my tank is also 9+ months old now so i'm sure that doesn't hurt

Go for it then. Put it in some indirect flow and watch the polyps. They should dance around like the inflatable man on that car loan commercial. Check it for any pests/dip and I usually put frags on new plugs before they go in the tank.

If you want you can add a higher ledge, but not necessary. Secure it well as they don't really encrust to form a strong base. They grow into things, latch on, and grow off of for support.

As far as sps corals go, Birdsdnest is one of the easiest. For $10 get it and try it out. Even though they're cheap and easy, they can turn into really beautiful corals.
