Hey Guys,
Curious how this Bird's Nest is looking.
I've had it for about 2 weeks. It doesn't seem to have any polyp extension. I could swear some of the tips have grown a tad.

Here is 2 weeks back daytime shot:

Here is 2 weeks later nighttime shot :

Tank Parameters as follows...
Salinity 1.025
Phosphate.03
Nitrate 0
Calcium 460
Alk 11
Magnesium 1350
Using Apex Dos 2 Part ( Dosing all day)

The red Monti Cap behind it is coloring up and grown and was placed in tank same day.

Lighting is Radion XP15 at 60% max during photo period.

Placement is seen above. 2/3 down in tank.

Thoughts? Suggestions?
I think I'm seeing slight polyp extension, yet I've seen other BN with much a much more fuzzness poly extension. Day or night, polyp extension always seems to look the same.

Thank you,
Steve

I've got a REALLY thin branch green birds nest and it's got super small polyp extension. IME(however brief that is) birds nest doesn't really have a ton of PE. That's leaving out birds of paridise... Stylophora is the one that's got the crazy PE.

Have another your type of birdnest place side by side with this also no pe . It bleach out while this thrive . Cant explain.

A lot of people say birds nests are the canary of the reef tank , they are the ones that will show signs of stress first when parameters arn't good ..

I've seen this but when I had a big alk swing it was my monti cap that went first, and fast. The birds nest bleached a bit... but recovered.

That is really high alk for 0 nitrates, either increase nitrates by dosing KNO3 or lower that alk a little.

Agreed, didn't catch that... NO3 should be raised to 5ppm, or Alk dropped below 9. That's what is causing your bleaching. It's exactly what caused mine. Red Sea Pro salt and ULNS... I switched to blue bucket salt and keep my tank at 450 Ca and 8.5 Alk and my SPS is happy with ULNS but they get fed every other day.
