What would cause this? My tank is 2 years old with a 90 gallons display tank. This birdsnest was added about a month ago. It is slowly starting to bleach. Pretty much every sps I try suffers the same fate. Does too much light cause this? Levels are all steady. Nitrates less than 10, phosphates .05-.1 alk 8.5, calcium 450. It was about a foot below the surface lot by an ATI Sunpower 39x8. I moved it lower thinking maybe it was the light but it’s not recovering. Last icp tests had nothing out of the ordinary. Softies and zoas are all fine. LPS also have some issues but not as bad as sps. Recently my torch coral lost 3 heads out of 12 and candy cane is alive but shriveled up. Hammer corals look ok but not as open as they should be. Fish are all great as is large BTA. These problems have been plaguing me from the beginning.

As were working on your new light in the last thread, inas wondering if the the bulb combination was the issue actually. In an 8 banger I belive you had 3-4 true actinics.

Wether that actually lowered your overall par (and pur) , or overdosed the corals on the specific low end spectrum is up for debate.

Thanks. Having a tough time figuring out what exactly the issue is. Not 100% if it’s the lighting or something chemistry related that I am just not seeing. Bulbs are 3 actinic 4 blue plus and 1 coral plus. I’ll know pretty soon if it’s the light since the new one is coming today.

Whats the new light coming? In my experience everytime my acros start to STN like that is because I get lazy with my tank and then my Alk/Cal/PH are off.

Nope parameters are all steady. pH 7.9-8.3 Alk 8.5 <10 nitrates .05-.1 phosphate Calcium 450 magnesium 1350.

I see a 'nibbler' in your pictures. Could be that.

I suppose anything is possible, but I have not seen a fish show any interest in coral.
