Never seen it but calcium swings can cause alkalinity swings which can cause pH swings... So I guess potentially?

As mentioned above, Birdsnest isn't really an easy coral (even though they're often sold as easy SPS). They have a tendency to do good for months or even years and then something changes and they go white overnight. They're fairly finicky when they decide to be - kinda the divas of SPS I guess?

Wish I would've known, I was told they're one of the easiest and more forgiving corals, I was also told this about the firework but then on the site a bunch said they're also very finicky

Birdsnest are often sold as easy, beginner SPS sticks. However, they're also one of those that will grow for years and survive everything else in the tank and then one day, just because you looked in the tank at 3:07 instead of 3:15 they get irritated and RTN just to prove a point...

I just got home from work and like half of it is gone I could try cutting off some of the bigger branches so hopefully it isn't too late..

Any chance they can survive? Or is this usually 100% game over for them?

They can survive. I've had one where just a 1/4" tip was fragged and it grew back from that.
